QA Automation Intern — Playwright End-to-End Testing (TypeScript)

About the role

TheInterviews.ai ships to production several times a week, gated by a large Playwright end-to-end suite that runs against real environments, including live voice interviews with fake microphones and cameras. You will own parts of that suite: make it faster, more reliable, and broader, and you will be the person who finds the bug before a candidate does.

What you will do

• Write and maintain Playwright specs in TypeScript across API, UI, and voice-interview tiers.
• Hunt flaky tests to root cause (timing, hydration, shared state, rate limits) and fix them properly, not with retries.
• Build test data and fixtures, and keep CI tiers honest: a red must mean a real defect.
• Run exploratory and accessibility passes (keyboard, screen reader, contrast) on new features and file precise, reproducible bugs.
• Pair with engineers on the definition of done for each feature.

Details

• Internship, approximately 12 weeks, starting October/November 2026. 20–40 hours per week, flexible, with a daily Pacific-time overlap window.
• Remote within the United States. Optional in-person days in San Diego.
• Students and recent graduates welcome, including F-1 CPT/OPT. Academic credit supported where your program allows.

What we look for

• Working JavaScript/TypeScript and comfort reading application code you did not write.
• You understand how a web app works end to end: DOM, network calls, cookies/tokens, and async behaviour.
• Methodical and skeptical: you verify before you believe, and you write things down.
• Some exposure to any test framework (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Jest, pytest).

Nice to have

• CI/CD experience, SQL, accessibility standards (WCAG), performance testing, or security testing basics.
